Bethlehem and Church of the Nativity Photo Series Part 1

2:1Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2:2  Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
Matthew 2:1 and 2:2

Last September we went to Israel, and it was a beautiful and spiritual trip.  One of the wonderful places that we went was Bethlehem, Palestine.  It was amazing, and I decided that I am going to share the pictures of Bethlehem over the next two Sundays.  Some of them are not as clear as I would like, but they are still beautiful.  I am not going to use a lot of words, because they speak for themselves.  I will explain that the parade was put on by the Palestinians for the U.N. vote to give them standing in the U.N.

I have also posted the pictures in the order that they were taken, so going through the wall from Isreal into Palestinian Territory, and then the Palestinian side, going through the streets, then into the church, then the grotto with the star that symbolizes where Jesus was born, and then out of the church and back on the streets.  Now,  the pictures.

Today I have taken you to the front of the Church of the Nativity.  Next week we will do inside the church.  I hope that you have enjoyed these pictures.  I would love to hear any comments that you have.

Enjoy!!!

  1. WOW - what a wonderful post! Thank you for sharing your trip with us - my favorite pictures are the 2 of the cross - with that beautiful blue sky behind. The cross stands out.
I'm also thankful and blessed that I have gained a new Christian friend (you)(that sounds corny but seriously - I am thankful) - technology is great isn't it?!
