I love PureFlix.com, and I have had it for several years.  If you have not heard of it before, it is similiar to Netflix, but with Christian content.  It has something for everyone and you can let your kids watch it without worrying what they may be seeing.

They have also added PureFlix original series such as The Encounter and The Inspectors which are both great family shows.  I started watching The Encounter series at the end of last year and really enjoyed it.  It is based on the movie series The Encounter with Bruce Marchiano who continues in his role as Jesus.

They are offering, Watch "The Encounter" now and get the 1st month FREE at PureFlix.com.  Which means you can try it for a month for nothing and if you like it continue, or if not you can cancel your subscription.

I hope that you will give Pureflix a chance, they offer great family entertainment, which you don't really find anywhere else.

Captive Movie Review

Well, as I promised,  I am reviewing the movie Captive.
I explained yesterday that this movie was directed by our  friend Jerry Jameson.  He has been directing since  1971.  He started working in the studios in the early 60's and literally worked his way up to director.

He was a close friend of my parents and one of my dad's best friends.   He spent an afternoon helping us out with my dad the week before my dad passed away, and his wife Sally stayed with my dad the day he died until they took him from the house.   He has been a consistent figure in my life since I was a kid.   His children were the same age as me and we were very good friends, staying at each others houses all of the time.  So I not only knew him as a friend of my parents, but also as my friends'  dad.

As a grown woman I became friends  with Jerry and his wife Sally, also.   I truly love them both.  We have been rooting for him with this movie for years, and I am so  very happy for him that this movie came to fruition.

I don't tell you about movies unless I think they are important and relevant, and the  movie Captive is just that.    It is a true story that takes place in Atlanta, Georgia in 2005.   As I told you yesterday the lead characters are  Brian Nichols  played by David Oyelowo and  Ashley Smith played by  Kate Mara.

The movie is based on Ashley Smith's book An Unlikely Angel.   It is the story of a young woman, Ashley Smith,  being taken hostage by an escape rapist Brian Nichols.   Brian Nichols is accused of rape, and he escapes jail, killing 4 people, and then taking Ashley Smith hostage.   He holds her hostage for about 7 hours, and then lets her go after she reads  The Purpose Driven Life   by Rick Warren to him.   Ashley was a meth addict and received the book from someone in her Celebrate Recovery program.   The book changed both of their lives that night .

This movie is truly a story of redemption.   The cast is amazingly talented.   It has been described as a faith based film, but it is much more then that.    This movie  really speaks to a part of all of us, that hopes to be forgiven for the mistakes that we have made.    It is a  movie that shows the  gritty, dirty side of life, and how even that can be survived.    How we can come out even better  on the other side.

Please go and see this wonderful movie, you will not be disappointed.    Also,  stay after to watch the Gail King's interview  with the cast and real life  Ashley Smith.

Have a great week.

Captive Movie Review to Come

I have not seen the movie Captive yet, I am going to see it tonight before it leaves the theaters.  I am asking all of you to do the same.

This movie was directed by a very close family friend Jerry Jameson.  It  is a true story  based on the  a book called The  Unlikely Angel written by Ashley Smith, a young woman who was kidnapped and held hostage by her captor, Brian Nichols.  Ashley Smith is played by  Kate Mara and Brian Nichols is played by David Oyelowo (he won the academy award for best actor this year for playing Dr. Martin Luther King in Selma.

This movie has a great message, and I am hoping that we can support it before it  is gone from the theaters.

Here are some links to the reviews for the  movie, and  I will write a review about it tomorrow.  Please take the time to go and see this movie.  There are too few of these movies made today that make it to  theaters, so we need to support them when  they come out.  I will also be seeing War Room tomorrow , and will review that movie later this week.

Thank you so much for being here today.

I wanted to tell everyone about a new dvd that I just watched.  It is called Jersalem Countdown, and it was great.  It was just released on dvd last week and it is from a company called PureFlix.  They brought us movies like Hidden Secrets, The Encounter, and The Wager.  It is really well done, and has a wonderful cast of characters.  (David AR White, Randy Travis, Lee Majors,  Stacy Keech to name a few)

The movie is based on the John Hagee book and it is a fast paced pre apocolyptic movie.  It seems that each year Christian based movies are getting better and better, and it is one that I would definitely recommend.  I hope you get a chance to see the DVD.  It is probably okay for teenagers and adults, but not young children.

Have a great week.

Hidden Secrets - Movie Review

Click link to Christian Cinema to buy the Movie - Hidden Secrets

I am reviewing another older movie, Hidden Secrets, came out in 2006, and is another movie from David AR White and PureFlix Entertainment.

I absolutely love this movie.  It is kind of a Christian Big Chill.  A group of friends come together for the funeral of one of their own.  The story is about how this group of people interact with each other, and how tensions escalate when their darkest secrets are coming to light.

There is Jeremy (David AR White) who has come with his new girlfriend, but has never gotten over his love for his first girlfriend, Sherry.  It is Sherry's brother who just passed away so she is dealing with the grief of losing her brother, along with her old feelings for Jeremy.  The cast also includes Gary (John Schneider) who is Jewish and at odds with one of the other friends, Rhonda.  She is a self righteous Christian, who feels it is her duty to win Gary over for Jesus.

This film has a great cast, that interacts well together, and give a wonderful, believable performance.  They make you feel like you know them, and that you are one of them.  They make you laugh and cry.

I hope that you will watch this movie,  it is really worth your time.  The message is wonderful.

I hope to hear what you think, and what your favorite movie is.  I hope to hear from you soon.

Enjoy!!!

The Encounter - Movie Review

Link to Christian Cinema website for the movie The Encounter

This movie came out in May of 2011, but it is a favorite of mine, so I wanted to review it for any of you who have not seen it yet.

The movie The Encounter is about a group of people who by God's intervention end up at a diner called The Last Chance Diner.  There is a teenage runaway girl, a young woman on her way to get engaged, a couple who are on the verge of divorcing, and a business man.  When they enter The Last Chance Diner they are met by the owner, whose name is Jesus.  You can only imagine their reactions.  The story goes on from there.

How does Jesus convince you that he is Jesus, even when he is standing right in front of you?  There are so many people in this world that cry out to God "give me proof".  Would we believe him if he did?  Would we believe that miracles can happen now, even if we were to see them, or would we just think it was a trick?  Are we listening when God speaks to us?  Do we really want to hear him?

I believe this movie touches on all of that.  The cast is amazing with Bruce Marchiano playing Jesus, Sting plays the business man, and Jaci Velasquez is a young believer who must wrestle with want she wants versus what Jesus wants for her life.

This is a definite must see movie.  I hope that all of you will watch it.

Please let me know what you think about The Encounter.  I would love to hear from you.

Enjoy!!!

Suing The Devil - Movie Review

Malcolm McDowell in Suing The Devil
To Order the Movie Suing The Devil at the Christian Cinema website click on the link

I was able to get this DVD at my local Christian bookstore a couple of weeks ago.  I had been waiting for it to come out for a while, and it was definitely worth the wait.

The plot, for Suing The Devil, is about a janitor who is in law school at night, Luke O'Brien, who decides that he is going to sue the Satan for $8 trillion dollars.  The night before Luke would file for a default judgement, Satan actually show up.  Satan and his legal team of 10 of the country's best attornies are prepared to defend the Devil ( Malcolm McDowell ) from Luke's charges.   The spiritual battle in the courtroom keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Malcolm McDowell delivers a stunning performance as The Devil.  He is the perfect person to play this role.  He is certainly believable as The Devil.  Actor, Bart Bronson, gives a great performance as  Luke O'Brien.  He is able to help you identify with this law student / janitor and his struggles with life, family issues, social issues, and the forgiveness that we have received from God.

This is definitely a must see fast paced, faith based, legal thriller.  It certainly presents a God against Satan scenario that is fairly intense at times.  I think it will leave everyone rooting for Luke to win, even when it seems like he doesn't have a chance.

I hope that you are able to see this DVD.  I would not recommend it for children under 15 or 16, the content can be a little intense at times.

Let me know what you think of this movie, or if you have seen something else recently that you would like to share with me.  I look forward to hearing from you.

Enjoy!!!

Me Again - Movie Review

Me Again - Movie Review - David AR White

I just saw this new David AR White Movie.  I am a huge fan of his.  He is not only a Christian actor, but he is also a producer for Christian Movies, through his production company PureFlix.  I love almost every movie that they put out, and this movie does not fail to entertain and provide a message at the same time.  This wonderful cast includes David AR White, Della Reese, Ali Landry, Logan White, and Bruce McGill.

This movie is about Pastor who has lost sight of what is important in his life.  He wishes for a life other then his own, and he sure gets it.  It is definitely not what he expected.  He becomes many different people and things, including a model, a goldfish, himself as a baby, and old woman, and along the way he finds out what is important in life.

Will he make the changes that he needs to make to appreciate his life?  You will have to watch this movie for yourself.  I have posted links above for you to be able to buy this movie online, or you should be able to get it from your local Christian Store.

Tell me what you think of this movie or any other movies you have seen recently.

Happy Watching.
