Free Craftsy Mini Classes

Online Sewing Class

I love all of the Craftsy classes, but these new  free mini courses are so great.  They are like all of the other great Craftsy classes, just shorter and they are offering them for free right now, which makes them even more appealing.  When they call them mini classes, they are shorter then the regular craftsy classes, but still a couple of hours.  I have already taken the Reversible Tote and Zipper Bag class and I loved it.  She had great instructions for the pocket which were wonderful.  You learn something new everyday.

The next 3 free Craftsy mini-courses I'm going to take are:

Check out all of the other free Craftsy mini-courses by clicking here.

I hope you will give some of these or the other Craftsy Free Mini Classes a try.  They also offer quilting and knitting classes.  You also have nothing to loose, since the classes on this list are free.

Have a great weekend.

Baked Broccoli

Today I am sharing my recipe for Baked Broccoli with all of you.  We love this recipe and it's so easy to make.  We really like that the cheese and panko make this broccoli slight crispy.  It is a great side dish with beef, chicken, fish, or pork.

Baked Broccoli

1 12 oz bag fresh broccoli
1/4 cup panko (japanese bread crumbs)
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1/4 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and spray a cookie sheet with non stick cooking spray.

In a large bowl toss broccoli, panko, parmesan, salt, and pepper.

Spread broccoli in a single layer on the cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned.

Remove from oven.

Makes 4 servings.

I hope that you like this recipe.  I always love hearing from you.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini

Today we have a Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini for Friday's Happy Hour.  This is not a drink that I will drink, but this one is for David.  He loves Dairy Queen's Chocolate Covered Cherry Blizzard, so I thought I would make him a Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini.  It was a huge hit.

Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini's

1 oz Godiva liqueur
1 oz Vanilla Vodka
1 oz cream
1 oz Grenadine
Chocolate Syrup
4 Maraschino Cherries - optional
1 oz melted chocolate - optional
skewer = optional

Put maraschino cherries on a skewer on wax paper and drizzle melted chocolate over cherries. (I didn't do this, because I forgot to buy cherries.)

Mix Godiva Liqueur, vanilla vodka, cream and grenadine in a martini shaker with ice until well chilled.

Put some chocolate syrup on a plate and run the rim of the glass in the chocolate syrup.

Next pour your chilled Chocolate Covered Cherry Martini into the glass.

Set you skewer of chocolate covered cherries on your glass as a garnish.

Makes 1 drink

I hope that you like this drink. David says this drink is delicious.  I always love hearing from you.

Wire Ring Tutorial 2 Spiral Ring

Today I am doing a Wire Ring Tutorial 2 - Spiral Ring.  I have been having a lot of fun making rings  with silver wire, and it seems like the sky is the limit  Just use your imagination or head over to Pinterest to get ideas.  So far these are my own designs, but I was checking out Pinterest yesterday, and there are so many fun designs that you can make with very few special tools.  You can get silver wire and basic tools like needle nose pliers, wire cutters and a mandrel at Hobby Lobby or Michaels. On one blog I even saw someone using a chapstick tube instead of a mandrel.  I thought this was a great idea for someone starting out and not wanting to invest a lot of money.

Spiral Wire Ring Tutorial

Silver Wire 18 gauge (can be silver or any color, I used sterling silver but I also have some silver plated.)
wire cutters
needle nose pliers
Mandrel or chapstick container for sizing and shape
Emory board or metal file (you can use the one from your nail clippers even)

1.  Cut a piece of silver wire about 2 1/2 inches long.

2.  Bend your wire around the back side of your mandrel to the size that you want your ring to be, leaving the two sides straight up over the top of the mandrel.

3.  Next twist the two parts of the wire in the opposite direction around each other using your needle nose pliers.

4.  Then start twisting the wire on the left in a spiral circle around the wire on the right.

5.  Before finishing wrapping your wire, take your file and file the end of the wire so that it is not so sharp

6.  Finish twisting the wire on the left all the way around, and make sure that the end of the wire is pushed in tight.

7.  Next, start wrapping the wire on the right to the left and wrapping in a spiral, on top of the first wire.

8.  Before that wire has been totally wrapped in your spiral, file the end of that wire also, so that it is not sharp.

9.  Push the edge of the wire in tight, so that it will not snag on your clothing.  You can do that with you needle nose pliers, by squeezing the top of the ring together.  (the end and the opposite side of the wire.)

I love the way this little Spiral Wire Ring came out.  It is so delicate and pretty.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (make sure that you are not a no-comment blogger, other I can't respond by email and it becomes difficult for me to try to reply to your questions).  I always love hearing from you.

Have a great week.

Psalm 24

I thought Psalm 24 was so beautiful and wanted to share it with all of you today.

(Psa 24:1)  A Psalm of David. The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

(Psa 24:2)  For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

(Psa 24:3)  Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place?

(Psa 24:4)  He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully.

(Psa 24:5)  He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation.

(Psa 24:6)  This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah.

(Psa 24:7)  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

(Psa 24:8)  Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

(Psa 24:9)  Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

(Psa 24:10)  Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

I really hope that you enjoy today's reading of Psalm 24.  I always love hearing from you.

Have a blessed day.
