Fancy Pony Tail Holders

Charly and I made these cute Fancy Pony Tail Holders one day last week, and I think they came out really cute.  I escpecially like the one with rhinestones.  (I saw a similar idea at another blog, but I couldn't find it to link to it.)  This is a very simple project, and a lot less espensive then buying fancy pony tail holders at a store.

Fancy Pony Tail Holders

Things you'll need:

skinny pony tail elastics (I used the Goody no metal elastics)
buttons of any kind with a larger shank ( you need buttons with larger holes )
1 size 3 crochet hook

Instructions:

1. pick a button and put the crochet hook through the hole.

2. grab the hair elastic with the crochet hook

3.  pull the hair elastic through the hole with the hook.  ( you will need to work it a little it if the hole is on the smaller side. )

4. Then pull the other side of the elastic through the loop, and pull tight.

5. You are done.

6.  You could put a button at the other end, if you like, but it's not necessary.

I love the way they came out, and I have been using them a lot.  I'm taking a handful with me on my trip to Mexico, because the humidity plays havoc with my hair, so a pony tail is easy.  I love that I can dress it up with a cute button.

I hope that you like these also.  I always love hearing from you.

Have a great week!!!

  12. They are so cute! I have really thick hair, so I usually use the thick non-snag elastics, but you have totally tempted me. I think I will have to make some. :) Thanks for sharing your creativity.

    1. I normally use thick non stick elastics also, but I wanted to make these and used these thin non stick ones this time. They stay in my hair pretty well. There is no metal on these elastics, just the plain black goody ouchless elastic. Thanks for coming by. Have a great day.
