Honey and Beeswax Lip Balm Blast From The Past Saturday

Welcome to Blast From The Past Saturday.  Every Saturday I will be posting a previously published post, in order to take my weekends off.

I have been making this lip balm since January.  I absolutely love this stuff.  I have them all over my house, and I have given them to everyone in the office, even the guys.  My son uses it, my husband and daughter uses it.  My friend that I share an office love the stuff and keeps trying to get me to sell it.  I am just happy giving it away.

The ingredients in this balm are simple and wonderful for your lips.  It has honey, which is a natural humectant  (attracts moisture).  It not only moisturizes your lips, but it also helps remove the dead skin.  Somewhere along the way I read that if you put straight honey on your dry, chapped lips at night, all of the dead skin will be gone by morning.  It also has coconut oil a natural emollient, and beeswax which has natural fatty acids and is a thickener.  Very simple and great for your lips, and tastes good enough to eat.

Lip Balm Recipe

1 1/2 tsp coconut oil
1 1/2 tsp raw unfiltered honey
1/4 oz beeswax

Melt all ingredients together over low heat in a small saucepan.  Once melted, remove from heat immediately.  Fill a large bowl with ice and place saucepan in the ice.  Whisk the balm in the pan until it thickens.  Then use a spatula to put it into a small container for lip balm.

Containers can be found at a natural foods store, like a whole foods.  You can also find them online.

Have a great week.

Cookies and Cream No Churn Ice Cream

This is part two of my no churn ice cream flavors - chocolate and cookies and cream.  Last week I posted the Chocolate No Churn Ice Cream Recipe, and today I am sharing the Cookies and Cream No Churn Ice Cream recipe.  I found the inspiration for this no churn ice cream from Dana at This Silly Girls Life.  The recipe looked so simple and easy to make, that I decided I was going to give it a try.  I was very happily surprised to taste this delicious frozen treat.  It is amazingly smooth and creamy ice cream, I think that you are going to love it.

Cookies and Cream No Churn Ice Cream

 Ingredients:

2 cups heavy whipping cream
4 TB Powdered sugar
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
25 oreos crushed

Directions:

Whip cream until it is starting to thicken, then add powdered sugar.

Continue whipping cream until it forms soft peaks and add vanilla.

Finish whipping cream until it forms firm peaks.  Just make sure you don't whip it too much or you'll end up making butter.

Gently add the sweetened condensed milk until it is all thoroughly combined.  You can do this with a mixer or by hand.

Next, fold in the crushed oreos.

Pour all of this into a loaf pan and put in the freezer.  It took about 3 hours in my freezer, for it to freeze.  So you will probably want to allow about 4 hours from start to serve time.

I'm not exactly sure how many servings, this makes, but it is a whole loaf pan full.

Now, wasn't that easy.  What a great dessert, and it is so fast.  The texture of this ice cream is so creamy and smooth and not to heavy at all.

I love hearing from all of you, so let me know what you think.  Vince asked for strawberry ice cream after he tasted it, so I will try that one next.

Have a great week.
