12 Uses for Rubbing Alcohol

Today, 12 Uses for Rubbing Alcohol.  I decided to do some research on this household product to see what other uses there were for Rubbing Alcohol besides cleaning cuts, scrapes, and cleaning the containers for my homemade beauty products.  I was surprised at all of the different ways it could be used, and wanted to share it with all of you.  So here we go

12 Uses for Rubbing Alcohol

1. Removing Frost From Your Windshield of Your Car

Living in Colorado, this is amazing to me.  Put the Alcohol in a spray bottle,  spray it on your windshield, and you can just wipe the frost off of your windshield.  I want to try this the next time I have a sheet of ice on my windshield to see if it works on that also.  I love this idea.

2. Cleaning Hairspray off of Your Bathroom Mirror

What a great idea.  I don't know about you, but sometimes, when I spray hairspray it goes everywhere, well this is just the thing to take care of that.  Just put a little alcohol on a cloth or paper towel and wipe your mirror, and it dissolves the hair spray.

3.  Cleaning the Hairspray off of Your Tile Floor

This is an even better tip then the bathroom mirror.  Once I realized rubbing alcohol would clean the  bathroom mirror, I decided to try it on our bathroom floor.  If you are getting hairspray on your mirror, you are definitely getting it on your floor also.  It did an amazing job.

4. Cleaning Your Phones

The telephone is on of the easiest ways to spread colds in a house and they also get grimy and dirty.   The alcohol will not only disinfect your phone, but make it sparkly clean too.

5. Getting Ticks off of Dogs

I haven't tried this one, because our dog doesn't really go anywhere with ticks, but for those of you who live in areas with ticks, this may be worth a try.  Apparently ticks do not like alcohol, so if you put alcohol on the tick and the dog before removing the tick, you can pull it out easier.  Once you put the alcohol on and around the tick, get as close to the skin as you can and the tick will be easier to remove.  Pull the tick out and then disinfect the area with the alcohol.   I thought this was a great idea.  If anyone tries it and it works, I would love to know.

6. Making Ice Packs

I love this, we normally use salt, ice, and a little water, but this would be a little more shapeable.  Mix 1 part rubbing alcohol with 2 parts water in a ziploc plastic bag.  Put it in the freezer.  It doesn't freeze all the way, it turns to slush, so it is shapeable.  Next time you need an ice pack just pull this out of the freezer and it will mold to the shape of wherever it goes.

7. Natural Degreaser in your Kitchen

I like this one a lot.  Put the alcohol on a clean cloth and wipe down the your stove, hood, kettle.  Viola!!!  The grease is gone, and the added bonus is that rubbing alcohol evaporates, so no need to rinse.   What a great natural degreaser.   I am for anything that gets rid of chemicals in my kitchen.  One note, do not use this on a hot stove or around any open flames, since rubbing alcohol is highly flamable.

8. Clean and Disinfect the Chrome Fixtures in Your Bathroom

I love this one also.  Just put the alcohol on a soft cloth and wipe down your faucets and it handles in your bathroom.  You have cleaned and disinfected in one fell swoop.  How easy is that.

9. Clean Your Candles

When your candles have sat for a while, this is a great way to clean them before lighting them.  Just put the alcohol on a cloth and wipe away the grime and dust from the candle.  It looks like new and you are set to go.  Light and use as usual.  I like this one, since my candles will sit for months without being used, so they are always dirty.

10. For Mosquito Bites

This is one I didn't know about.  If you put rubbing alcohol on a mosquito bite, it will dry it out and that stops the itching.  I'm trying this next time I get a mosquito bite for sure.  We'll have Charly try it also, since mosquitos really like her a lot.  She must be very tasty.

11.  Cleaning CD's and DVD's

When your cd's and dvd's are skipping or not playing right, wipe them off with rubbing alcohol and a soft cloth to clean them off and they are good to go.  Sometimes, just cleaning them is the fix.

12. Eye Glass Cleaner

So since I am essentially blind, I have to wear glasses all of the time.  I can not see without them, so I like my glasses to be really lean.  I am always buying eye glass cleaner and eye glass cleaner wipes.  I haven't been able to replace the wipes yet, but this works great on my glasses.  Just put the alcohol in a small spray bottle, spray on your glasses and wipe with a soft cloth.  They are sparkly and shiny like new.

I hope that these are helpful ways to use Rubbing Alcohol.  I really like the fact that it has so many uses and is so inexpensive.  I always love hearing from you.

Have a great day.

Psalm 34 Bible Study

Today Psalm 94 spoke to me, I hope it speaks to you.

34:1  A Psalm of David, when he changed his behaviour before Abimelech; who drove him away, and he departed. I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
34:2  My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
34:3  O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
34:4  I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
34:5  They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.
34:6  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.
34:7  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
34:8  O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
34:9  O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
34:10  The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
34:11  Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.
34:12  What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?
34:13  Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.
34:14  Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
34:15  The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.
34:16  The face of the LORD is against them that do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
34:17  The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
34:18  The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
34:19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.
34:20  He keepeth all his bones: not one of them is broken.
34:21  Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
34:22  The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
Psalm 94

I was searching for today's verses, and this is where I was led.  I hope God speaks to your heart today also.

Have a Blessed Day.

Donut Holes for Valentines Day Breakfast

Today, I'm sharing a really easy recipe for Donut Holes for Valentines Day Breakfast.  These are especially delicious and when you see how easy they are to make your going to love them even more.  I feel like I am becoming the queen of semi homemade food.  Writing the blog, linking at parties, throwing the party on Wednesdays, trying to comment on everyone's links (not always possible), and trying to come up with new ideas, I am left with very little time.  So I find that when I used to cook for scratch, I now turn to semi homemade cooking.  This is one of those great recipes that people turn around and say, "Really, that's it.  I can make that."  You sure can.  It's that easy.

Donut Hole for Valentines Breakfast

Ingredients

1 can Pillsbury Grands Honey Butter Biscuits
oil
1 cup powdered sugar

Directions

Fill a frying pan (cast iron if you have it) half full with oil

Heat oil to about 240 to 250 degrees

Cut the Grands Biscuits into quarters.

Roll into balls

Once oil has reached the correct temperature start putting the rolled biscuits into the hot oil.

Once the donut holes start browning make sure that you are turning them so that they are lightly browned all over.

Remove from the oil and put on paper towels to drain.

Put the powdered sugar in a bowl large enough to be able to toss donut holes around in it.

Put 4 to 5 donut holes into the bowl with the powdered sugar and toss until donut holes are covered in the powdered sugar.

I had little muffin cups for valentines day, that I put them in for serving.  Once you remove them from the sugar you can put them into the muffin cups and put on a tray to serve.

Makes 32 donut holes

I really hope that you like this recipe.  They were delicious.  Vince stopped by the morning after I had made them and ate about 8 with his coffee, then he made me take them away.  The office also seemed to love them.  They were gone very quickly.  I always love hearing from you.

Enjoy!!!
